Wellington and Wiveliscombe wildlife corridor
As an offshoot from Greener Langford Budville, and the Jubilee Wood planting, we are hoping to encourage people to think of the land between Wellington and Wiveliscombe as a wildlife corridor.
Nick Benge (of Rodborough Rewilders and Kittisford Acre) organized a highly successful meeting on 24th November 2024, where this was one of the items discussed. Somerset Wildlife Trust have offered their backing and we see this as an extension to the Wellington Green Corridor to which Transition Town Wellington have made such a contribution. We are still considering what methods might best allow people to share their green projects and sightings, needs and services they can offer – perhaps Whatsapp, iNaturalist and Facebook. Jubilee Wood is in the northwest corner of Langford Lakes Christmas tree farm. 600 trees and 400 hedging plants were planted in January 2023 by volunteers from the Greener Langford Budville initiative.
